1st Annual Alumni Banquet @ Alumni House

On March 31st, 2010 the brothers of Zeta Phi Rho, Gamma Chapter hosted its 1st annual alumni banquet at the historic Alumni House from 6 to 9pm and welcomed many distinguished alumni back to campus. The night was filled with good food and conversation. The night began with a brief address and welcome from Justin Ng and Ryan Sung, as well as a message from the Asian Pacific Alumni Association (APAA). After a delicious catered dinner, there were numerous icebreakers facilitated by the current actives. This was followed up by reflections upon the brotherhood and traditions such as the Greenhouse and Zeta Sisters. By the end of the night it was clear that the gap between alumni, actives and associates was bridged and that Gamma Chapter had reconnected with its alumni. Representatives from Alpha through Associate Upsilon class were represented. The brothers of Gamma Chapter hope to continue this tradition in the future and encourage alumni to stay connected with the brotherhood.

[WHAT IS ZETA PHI SKID RHO?]

Zeta Phi Skid Rho is the keystone annual philanthropy event for Zeta Phi Rho
Fraternity at the University of Southern California, Gamma Chapter. At this
Thanksgiving season event, we make lunches for the homeless living in the Skid
Row neighborhood of Los Angeles. Not only do we make a huge amount of lunches
for the homeless, but we also unite students from different interests together
for a great cause and consequently create awareness of the ongoing poverty in
Los Angeles.

This year we want to stress the importance of philanthropy not just as a
solitary event, but as a mentality to be adopted for a lifetime. We hope to
inspire people to live a lifetime of philanthropy by expanding our event into a
week-long affair intended to raise awareness for our cause.

WHEN - Friday, November 20th, 10am-2pm

THIS EVENT IS OPEN TO EVERYONE AND ANYONE.

You can sign up for as many or as few shifts as you want. Shifts are one hour long.

Zeta Sis Fall Rush 2009 is Here! It’s that time of year again and we’re looking for some lovely ladies to join our family.

“Beside every great man, there is always a beautiful and intelligent woman.”

We are now looking for Zeta Sisters for our Associate Upsilon class.

[WHAT IS A ZETA SISTER?]
The Zeta sister program is an opportunity for women who want to be a part of a family, without having to join a sorority.Unlike some other sister programs, THERE IS NO PLEDGING INVOLVED. We are looking for cool girls who are down to kick it with cool guys.

We will be going go karting- Get competitive with the Zeta Family. Meet in front of the Lyon center @ 6:30pm

Tues Sept 22nd
~FRO-YO SOCIAL~
Frozen Yogurt Social at 21 Choices (located on the corner of Hoover/Jefferson in the University Village). Get to know more of the Zeta Family and get any questions answered. Meet at 21 Choices 9pm.

MGC Fraternity of the Year

Also on April 15, 2009, Roberty May, Alex Tao, Vernon Roque (MGC Representative), and myself attended the Multicultural Greek Council end of the year banquet at the Bungalow Club on Melrose. The food was delicious and the venue was kind of exotic…hahaha

We were deeply honored when we received MGC FRATERNITY OF THE YEAR!!! I know there was fierce competition, so we really appreciate this award. In addition to the certificate distinguishing our award, we will also receive a Goblet like trophy where our fraternity name and 2009 will be inscribed. Each year, the trophy will be passed on to the MGC Fraternity of the Year. Of course, Zeta Phi Rho will be first on the trophy- I am sure we will have it for many years to come…

Vernon Roque also received an award: “Expert Sandwich Maker aka Most Breaded” for his efforts with Zeta Phi “Skid” Rho. He will be holding a number of workshops detailing the proper art of making sandwiches.

What a year!

On April 15, 2009, Izachar, Vernon and I attended the annual Community Service Awards Banquet Dinner hosted by the College of Letters, Arts, and Sciences as well as Government and Community Relations. It was held at the Founders Room at the Galen Center.

It is a great honor receiving the USC Student Organization Volunteerism Award! For our efforts with Zeta Phi “Skid” Rho and our mentorship in Catholic Big Brothers Big Sisters, we received a plaque and a $250 check to the nonprofit organization of our choice. We decided we will donate this money to Catholic Big Brothers Big Sisters for their Bowl For Kids Sake event on April 25, 2009. During these economic times, we hope this money will contribute to sustaining programming and facilitating more matches.
